Viking Lotto

About Viking Lotto:

Viking Lotto is one of the premier Scandinavian lottos. Established back in 1993, it is a weekly lottery which is held on a Wednesday night. The game is a collaboration of several different national lotteries, the majority of which are located in North Eastern Europe. They include Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

How to Play Viking Lotto:

While Viking Lotto is a multi-national lottery between the countries listed above; anyone can play. To play, you must select six numbers. These numbers must be between 1 and 48. The winning numbers will be drawn on a Wednesday night. However, all tickets must be purchased before 6 pm. The results are usually on BBC 1 at around 10.55pm.

To get your hands on the top prize, you’ll have to land six of the winning numbers in the same range. This triggers the first prize. If you land five numbers, then you’ll become part of the second prize pool.
There is a lucky number component to Viking Lotto. It can significantly increase the payout on offer, sometimes rising to the millions! So, it’s definitely a good thing to land this number.

Thankfully, it’s not difficult to enter into this draw. In fact, all players have entered into it automatically. Before the main draw takes place, a lucky number will be drawn from the 1-48 range. Then, once it’s been chosen, it will be thrown back into play. If the lucky number is then drawn as part of the main draw, you’ll also win the additional lucky number jackpot.

Viking Lotto Payouts:

As we mentioned above, the top prize is claimed by landing all six main numbers. However, with the inclusion of the lucky number feature, you can add a whole lot more to your total. One of the great things about Viking Lotto is that there is more than one main prize up for grabs. Match a bonus ball and five numbers to become part of the secondary prize pool. There are pretty good odds on this game, with the odds of landing a secondary prize standing at 1 in 57.

The value of the top prize varies. Any unclaimed prizes are rolled over, which means that winnings can become very substantial when claimed. All first prize jackpots are valued in euros. These can range from €48,000 to as much as €2.4 million. The current record win for this type of lottery is €6 million which was claimed in fall of 2005.
